WE FINISHED THE CUBAN MISSILE CRISIS...IN 3RD HOUR...THERE WAS A NUCLEAR ATTACK...AND IN 6TH HOUR...THE U.S. GAVE UP WEST BERLIN!!!

ON MONDAY WE START THE LAST WEEK OF SCHOOL WATCHING "THE 60'S" ...YOUR LAST HURRAH!

GET ORGANIZED...ALL 2ND SEMESTER ASSIGNMENTS, AND TESTS, ETC. ORGANIZED FOR THE  50 POINT 2ND SEMESTER ASSIGNMENT PORTFOLIO...WILL COLLECT THEM ON THURSDAY...JULY 5.

       COLD WAR METAPHOR ASSIGNMENT
                               50 POINTS
       DUE: WEDNESDAY, JUNE 2...at the start of  the period.  
            NO LATE WORK ACCEPTED!

Assignment was introduced on Thursday, May 23. Samples in classroom.

Directions: Select a Metaphor depicting the competition between the U.S. and the U.S.S.R. during the Cold War (1945-1989). Create a central image and then you must label and describe 10 Items from your Cold War materials.  This should be colorful/interactive and with plenty of cowbell.  Then provide 3 specific explanations relating the metaphor to the actual Cold War. Then...provide specific explanations praising the U.S. Foreign Policy efforts for each decade the Cold War lasted. 

Sources to be used: Class materials/terms, charts, reading materials. Chapters 38-40, Ch. 51-53, and Ch. 54 and Ch. 57.

Today we discussed the Decision to drop the Atomic Bombs.  WWII Take Home Essays...were due Friday. If you did not turn them in on Friday, without prior communication with your teacher...it will not be accepted.  Check previous post that verifies this point.  Last Wed/Thurs you were instructed as such.  We are moving forward.  Professional Deadlines are important...you were given this assignment on Wed.May7.

On Friday you watched 10 Minutes of Atomic Cafe, and did a primary source exercise on the A-Bomb Decision...that was collected and worth 10 Points...and enter in Power School.  WWII Notebooks were also collected...and will be entered tomorrow am...as we start a Cold War unit.

Today we introduced the "Dot" activity for extra-credit...you must be here to participate. 

Better work harder than ever these last 3 weeks. More serious assignments to come!

Take Home Essays will be collected on FRIDAY now!  Look at the earlier post regarding page numbers for your maps. Read the corresponding pages and do a thorough job in notebook with key battles, etc.  Make certain you have a CEAL paragraph for each WWII chapter focus question in your NB's. 

Title Page ... Google images...and quotes...make up your own title for your paper. You will staple it together first thing on Friday.

TO WHAT EXTENT IS WWII AMERICA's         LAST GOOD WAR?

Takehome Essay was assigned today.  Due next Wednesday!  We are watching WWII From Space by the History Channel.  You were given maps for WWII Battle Fronts.  INSTRUCTIONS: Make a title page for Ch. 36...with focus question.  Cut and paste the maps in your notebook.  For each map...color, draw arrows...label the three (3) capitols...Berlin, Rome, Tokyo.  Put Dates, Key Battles, etc. on the map and take notes from the corresponding section of the chapters.

Map 1: Identify U.S.,  Pacific Front, North African Front, and European Front.  Place Key dates from lecture notes in box.  Label the following capitols:  Washington, D.C., London, Paris, Berlin, Moscow, Rome, Tokyo

Map 2: p. 444, p. 468 - Hitler's Western Expansion -1939-40
Map 3: p. 468 - North Africa 1942-43   Italy - 1943-44
Map 4: p. 468 - Eastern Front...1942-45 - Color extent of Axis power...and arrows leading to Berlin
Map 5: p. 468 -Allied Offensive in Europe: D-Day to V-E Day - 1944-45
Map 6: p. 474 - War in Pacific - 1942045 - Draw arrows of the two pronged offensive...ending with
                          2 atomic bombs.

NOTEBOOKS: Get your CEEEAL Paragraph ...answer to the chapter focus question .... for Ch. 35 written in your notebooks.
CH. 36 Fighting WWII: Focus Question: What military strategies did the U.S. and its allies use to defeat the Axis Powers in WWII. Make a Title-Page with Focus question.
I will give you two maps tomorrow to glue in your notebooks...and explain how you take notes for this chapter.
3rd Hour - You don't know this yet...but tomorrow you are watching WWII From Space (History Channel)
6th Hour started it today (I found it on line 4th period)
